New Zealand’s only Master Sommelier, Cameron Douglas, hosts an exclusive tasting event and launch with The Family of Twelve: a fraternity of twelve of New Zealand’s most prestigious and enduring artisanal wineries
The New Zealand Cellar is proud to announce a partnership with The Family of Twelve and Cameron Douglas, New Zealand’s only Master Sommelier. In the UK to showcase The Family of Twelve wines with The New Zealand Cellar, Douglas is hosting a ticketed event in the exquisite Penthouse of New Zealand House to launch the ‘Summer Case’: a selection of the most delicious summer wines from twelve of the country’s premium vineyards.
On April 16th, The New Zealand Cellar’s ‘Summer Case’ launch tasting will play host to representatives from all twelve vineyards who will offer tasting sessions to guests in an informal, educational environment. Cameron Douglas will introduce the evening and outline each vineyard’s contribution to the country’s staggeringly diverse wine landscape.
The wines available to taste on the night, and those in the Summer Case, will be Kumeu River Pinot Gris, Villa Maria Cellar Selection Syrah, Millton Chenin Blanc, Craggy Range Te Muna Road Riesling, Ata Rangi Sauvignon Blanc, Palliser Estate Pinot Noir, Neudorf Vineyards Tom’s Block Pinot Noir, Fromm La Strada Sauvignon Blanc, Nautilus Estate Pinot Noir Chardonnay Classic Cuvee Brut, Lawson’s Dry Hills Gewürztraminer, Pegasus Bay Sauvignon Semillon and Felton Road Elms Chardonnay.
The case, which will be launched on the 16th April will be available on the night at a reduced price of £190 for all twelve bottles, and will be available from that date exclusively at The New Zealand Cellar for £215, including delivery. Each bottle is also available to purchase singularly on the night.
With only 70 tickets available for this event, this is an excellent opportunity to try some of the best wines coming out of New Zealand this year. Tickets cost £45 per head, which includes exclusive access to the penthouse, a selection of Neal’s Yard cheese to nibble and the chance to enjoy each of the twelve wines being showcased by the vineyards representatives.
“I am proud to be associated with this exceptional event. The Family of Twelve represent the finest and most prestigious of New Zealand Winemaking – these families together are in a unique position to tell the story of the history of premium New Zealand wine; the diversity of types and consistency in excellence brought about by years of experience and focus, and a truly familial collaboration. Thanks to their relationship with The New Zealand Cellar, the Family is able to offer the Summer Case – a unique opportunity to explore each type and region at its best. I spend time at each of the Family Vineyards, and can attest to the passion and commitment that ensure each example has not just exceptional quality, but its own narrative – we are excited that the Family of XII are leading New Zealand Wine into its individual definition of terroir”. The New Zealand Cellar offers a diverse selection of wines, with the aim of continuously evolving and developing as new vintages and wines become available to the market.
