Lawson’s Dry Hills

Combine more than 25 years’ experience with an inquisitive spirit and you have a perfect balance of innovation and knowledge underpinning a winemaking philosophy. And the Lawson’s Dry Hills philosophy is simple: to produce premium wines of great character, quality and varietal expression.

The original Marlborough vineyard was planted in 1980 by Ross and Barbara Lawson.

Their first vintage was Gewürztraminer, just fifteen tonnes, managed from an old tin shed on the property. The Lawson’s Dry Hills Gewürztraminer is now recognised as one of the country’s finest. Today the winery produces a benchmark range, including Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. These classic varieties have firmly established Lawson’s Dry Hills on the national and international stage.

Owners Tim and Pauline Evill were long term investors in Lawson’s Dry Hills before becoming majority shareholders in 2014. Key team members are also shareholders, including General Manager, Sion Barnsley and Chief Winemaker, Marcus Wright.
