Tim and Judy Finn risked everything in the late 1970s to plant grapes on a hillside in Upper Moutere, just out of Nelson at the top of the South Island. They held down six jobs between them and dedicated themselves to the production of fine, elegant wine.
These days the pair is joined by winemaker Todd Stevens, viticulturist Mike Saunders and a team who grow grapes expressing the tūrangawaewae (Maori for spiritual home).
The vineyards are dry farmed and organically grown.
Neudorf’s signature Moutere Chardonnay is held up as being one of the New World’s best.
Not to be outdone however, the Moutere Pinot Noirs have an enviable reputation for elegance, precision and depth.
Tim is a scientist by training and nature and his curiosity has led to much experimentation over the years, including the latest addition to their small portfolio – Albariñoneudorf.co.nz
